LBFIG shortlisted for award in the 2024 CIPFA Public Finance Awards

Commenting on the nomination, Chris Keesing, Chair of the LBFIG said "I’d like to give a shoutout for the work we’ve been doing across London to tackle the fraud risk of workers - permanent and temporary - working across multiple contracts and failing to fulfil their obligations to their employer.

A small team from the LBFIG EC worked hard on a proof of concept project, and to gain support from our managed service providers, covering 26 London Boroughs, and internally across our organisations to use ‘big data’ to match substantive and contingent worker data through our NFI London Fraud Hub, to identify where workers had more than one job.

We have seen successes across our Boroughs from this project and aim to continue as business as usual from the autumn, now the concept has been proven.

I’m very proud to share that we’ve been recognised for all the hard work we’ve done to prove this concept by being shortlisted for an award at the CIPFA Public Finance Awards, in the outstanding fraud prevention, detection and recovery category, and look forward to celebrating the successes of the shortlisted candidates on the 26th November."
